Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is planning a
clear-out from his squad after two successive
defeats in the Premier League with the latest
coming against Arsenal last Saturday.
The report by the Daily Express suggests the
Blues boss has held a series of conversations
with owner Roman Abramovich in his bid to
return Chelsea to the top of the charts in
England.
The Express also quotes the Times in their
report that Conte had lunch with Abramovich
at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground for the
third successive day on Wednesday and has
permitted to alter the squad.
N’Golo Kante, Michy Batshuayi, Marcos Alonso
and David Luiz have arrived at Stamford
Bridge since the former Juventus trainer
began work at Chelsea, but with the exception
of Kante, Conte did miss his summer targets.
Senior players in the squad such as Gary
Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic, Nemanja Matic,
Oscar and Cesc Fabregas have been listed by
the Times to depart the club next summer.
The club has not entered the crisis mode
witnessed last season under Jose Mourinho,
but the signs are there after Chelsea have
failed to win their last four games in all
competitions.
